ఏలూరు ఎంపీ పుట్టా మహేష్ కుమార్ పొగాకు రైతులు క్రమంగా ఆయిల్ పామ్ సాగుపై దృష్టి పెట్టాలని సూచించారు. జంగారెడ్డిగూడెంలో మల్టీపర్పస్ హాల్కు శంకుస్థాపన చేశారు.

అంతర్జాతీయ పరిస్థితులు, యుద్ధ ప్రభావంతో పొగాకు ఎగుమతులు మందగించి ధరలు తగ్గాయని, రైతుల సమస్య పరిష్కారానికి ముఖ్యమంత్రి చంద్రబాబు నాయుడు, వ్యవసాయ మంత్రి అచ్చెన్నాయుడుతో కలిసి కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వంతో చర్చలు జరుపుతున్నామని, పొగాకు బోర్డు ద్వారా రైతులకు రూ.50 వేల వడ్డీలేని రుణం కల్పించేలా చర్యలు తీసుకున్నామని, ముఖ్యంగా లోగ్రేడ్ పొగాకు రైతులకు ఇది ఉపయోగపడుతుందని పేర్కొన్నారు.
ఆయిల్ పామ్కు భవిష్యత్తులో మంచి డిమాండ్ ఉంటుందని, రైతులు ప్రత్యామ్నాయ పంటలపై దృష్టి సారించాలని సూచించారు. కొల్లేరు భూముల సమస్య కూడా తుది దశకు చేరుకుందని, రైతులకు అనుకూల పరిష్కారం లభిస్తుందనే ఆశాభావాన్ని వ్యక్తం చేశారు.
అనంతరం సీఎస్టీఎస్ కళాశాలలో ఎంపీ నిధులు రూ.4.90 లక్షలతో నిర్మించిన పార్కింగ్ షెడ్ను ప్రారంభించారు. విద్యార్థుల విజ్ఞప్తికి ఆరు నెలల్లోనే హామీని నిలబెట్టుకున్నట్లు తెలిపారు
Eluru MP Urges Tobacco Farmers to Shift Gradually to Oil Palm
Eluru Member of Parliament Putta Mahesh Kumar has urged tobacco farmers to gradually diversify towards oil palm cultivation, citing changing global market conditions and the crop’s long-term potential.
Speaking to the media after laying the foundation stone for a multipurpose hall at Jangareddygudem, the MP said international developments and ongoing geopolitical conflicts had adversely affected tobacco exports, resulting in a decline in prices and causing hardship to farmers.
He said the State government, under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, in coordination with Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu, was in discussions with the Union government to address the challenges faced by tobacco growers. As part of the relief measures, the Tobacco Board has facilitated interest-free loans of ₹50,000 for eligible farmers, with the initiative expected to particularly benefit growers producing low-grade tobacco.
Highlighting the prospects of oil palm cultivation, Mr. Mahesh Kumar said the crop is likely to witness sustained demand in the coming years and encouraged farmers to adopt alternative cropping patterns for better long-term returns.
The MP also expressed optimism that the long-pending Kolleru land issue was nearing resolution and said a farmer-friendly solution was expected soon.
Later, he inaugurated a parking shed constructed at CSTS College at a cost of ₹4.90 lakh from his Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) funds. He said the project was completed within six months of receiving a request from the students, fulfilling the assurance given to the institution.
