సొంత నిధులతో మరమ్మతులు
పినపళ్ల, సంధిపూడి, చింతలూరు పొలాలకు సాగు నీరందించే కొత్తకాలువకు (రెల్లిబాడవ) జొన్నాడ వద్ద గండి పూడ్చి తూరలు ఏర్పాటుచేసి గోడ నిర్మించే పనులను చింతలూరు నీటి సంఘం అధ్యక్షుడు గారపాటి శ్రీనివాస్ శుక్రవారం స్వయంగా చేపట్టారు. పదేళ్ల క్రితం ఈ కాలువకు జొన్నాడ వద్ద గండి పడిందని, ఏటా ఇసుకబస్తాలతో తాత్కాలికంగా మరమ్మతులు చేస్తున్నట్లు తెలిపారు. నిధుల కొరత ఉన్నందున తన సొంత ఖర్చుతో నిర్మిస్తున్నట్లు చెప్పారు. కొత్త పేట ఎమ్మెల్యే బండారు సత్యా నందరావు, జనసేన ఇన్ఛార్జి బండారు శ్రీనివాస్ ఆదేశాల మేరకు వెయ్యి ఎకరాలకు సాగునీరు అందించే పనులను త్వరితగతిన పూర్తిచేసి రైతులకు అందించనున్నట్లు తెలిపారు.
Canal Repairs Taken Up With Personal Funds
In a notable initiative to support farmers, Chintaluru Water Association president Garapati Srinivas personally undertook repair works to the breach at Jonnada on the new canal (Rellibadava) supplying irrigation water to Pinapalla, Sandhipudi and Chintaluru farmlands.
He said the canal had suffered damage nearly a decade ago and temporary repairs were being carried out every year using sandbags. Owing to shortage of funds, the works are now being executed with his own resources to ensure irrigation supply to nearly 1,000 acres at the earliest.
