ఏలూరును స్వచ్ఛ జిల్లాగా తీర్చిదిద్దేందుకు ప్రతిఒక్కరూ సంపూర్ణ సహకారం అందించాలని జిల్లా కలెక్టర్ కె. వెట్రిసెల్వి, జిల్లా తెలుగుదేశం పార్టీ అధ్యక్షులు, ఏలూరు ఎమ్మెల్యే బడేటి చంటి పిలుపునిచ్చారు. పరిశుభ్రమైన పరిసరాలే ఆరోగ్యకర వాతావరణానికి మూలమని వారు పేర్కొన్నారు. రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వ ఆదేశాల మేరకు జిల్లాలోని ఏలూరు కార్పొరేషన్తో పాటూ మున్సిపాల్టీల్లో ఆపరేషన్ క్లీన్ స్వీప్ ప్రత్యేక కార్యక్రమం శనివారం ప్రారంభమైంది. జిల్లాను సుందరంగా తీర్చిదిద్దాలన్న ఏకైక లక్ష్యంతో 30 రోజుల పాటు ఈ ప్రత్యేక కార్యక్రమాన్ని నిర్వహించనున్నారు. దీనిలో భాగంగా ఈ నెల 28వ తేదీ వరకు రెడ్, ఎల్లో స్పాట్లు, రోడ్లు శుభ్రం చేసే కార్యక్రమాలు చేపడతారు. 29 నుంచి జూన్ 4 వరకూ పెద్ద మురుగు కాల్వలతో పాటూ చిన్న కాల్వలను శుభ్రం చేయనున్నారు. జూన్ 5 నుంచి 11 వరకు నివాసాలు, వ్యాపార సముదాయాలు, ఖాళీ ప్రదేశాలు, మార్కెట్ సముదాయాల్లో ఉన్న చెత్తాచెదారాన్ని పూర్తిగా తొలగిస్తారు. 12 నుంచి 18 వరకు ప్రజా మరుగుదొడ్లు, బ్లాక్ స్పాట్లలో శుభ్రతా చర్యలు చేపట్టడంతో పాటూ ఆయా తేదీల్లో అవకాశాన్ని బట్టీ రహదారి భద్రతా, ట్రాఫిక్ నియంత్రణ చర్యలు, మార్కింగ్లు, కలర్ పెయింటింగ్లతో నగర సుందరీకరణ పనులు చేపడతారు. కాగా శనివారం ఏలూరు 3వ డివిజన్ నవాబ్ పేట కమ్యూనిటీ హాల్ రోడ్డులో స్పెషల్ శానిటేషన్ డ్రైవ్ ఆపరేషన్ క్లీన్ స్వీప్ కార్యక్రమాన్ని కలెక్టర్ వెట్రిసెల్వి, ఎమ్మెల్యే బడేటి చంటి ప్రారంభించారు. తొలుత ఎమ్మెల్యే బడేటి చంటి డాక్టర్ బీఆర్ అంబేద్కర్ విగ్రహానికి పూలమాలలు వేసి ఘనంగా నివాళులర్పించారు. అనంతరం రహదారిపై పేరుకుపోయిన చెత్తను చీపుర్లతో ఊడ్చారు. పరిసరాల పరిశుభ్రతపై ప్రజలకు అవగాహన కల్పించారు.
ఈ సందర్భంగా కలెక్టర్ మాట్లాడుతూ :
పట్టణ ప్రాంతాల్లో విజిబుల్ క్లినింగ్ లక్ష్యంతోనే ప్రభుత్వం ఆపరేషన్ క్లీన్ స్వీప్ కార్యక్రమానికి శ్రీకారం చుట్టిందన్నారు. దానిలో భాగంగానే 4వారాల పాటూ నిర్వహించనున్న ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో ఒక్కోవారం ఒక్కో ప్రత్యేక కార్యక్రమాన్ని లక్ష్యసాధన దిశగా నిర్వహించి పరిసరాలను పరిశుభ్రం చేయనున్నట్లు తెలిపారు. ఈ విషయంలో ప్రజలు కూడా సంపూర్ణ సహకారం అందించాలని ఆమె సూచించారు.
ఎమ్మెల్యే బడేటి చంటి మాట్లాడుతూ :.
ఆరోగ్యమే మహా భాగ్యమని, పరిసరాల పరిశుభ్రతతోనే అది సాధ్యమని పేర్కొన్నారు. సుందర నగరంగా ఏలూరును తీర్చిదిద్దే లక్ష్యంతో ఇప్పటికే విలీన ప్రాంతాల్లో స్పెషల్ శానిటేషన్ డ్రైవ్ చేపట్టినట్లు ఆయన తెలిపారు. దానికి అదనంగా ఈ కార్యక్రమం కూడా తోడవ్వడంతో చెత్తను పారద్రోలి పరిసరాలను పరిశుభ్రంగా, సుందరంగా తీర్చిదిద్దేందుకు మరింత ఆస్కారం పెరిగిందని అభిప్రాయపడిన ఎమ్మెల్యే చంటి, ప్రజలెవ్వరూ ఆరుబయట, ఖాళీ ప్రదేశాల్లో చెత్తను వేసి అపరిశుద్ధ్యానికి ఆతిథ్యం ఇవ్వొద్దంటూ స్ఫూర్తివంతంగా పిలుపునిచ్చారు.

Eluru launches “Operation Clean Sweep” to transform city in 30‑day drive
A month‑long cleanliness campaign, “Operation Clean Sweep,” was launched here on Saturday with district officials and local leaders urging full public cooperation to turn Eluru into a clean and healthy city.
District Collector K. Vetriselvi and Eluru MLA Badeti Chanti jointly inaugurated the special sanitation programme on the third division’s Nawabpet Community Hall road, marking the start of a four‑week targeted effort that will involve the municipal corporation and surrounding municipalities. The initiative aims to beautify the district through intensive, week‑by‑week operations, officials said.
At the event, MLA Badeti Chanti paid floral tributes to the statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar before joining the sanitation drive. Volunteers and staff swept litter from the roads and raised public awareness about maintaining clean surroundings.
Collector Vetriselvi said the state government conceived the visible‑cleaning initiative to ensure the urban landscape is both hygienic and attractive. “We will run focused activities each week to address specific problem areas and achieve measurable outcomes,” she said, adding that public participation is essential for success.
The campaign’s schedule has been divided into weekly tasks. Up to May 28, teams will clean identified red and yellow spots and roadways. From May 29 to June 4, large and small drains will be desilted. Between June 5 and 11, residential areas, business clusters, vacant plots and marketplaces will be cleared of accumulated waste. From June 12 to 18, public latrines and block‑level hotspots will receive targeted sanitation action, alongside road‑safety measures, traffic regulation, marking and color‑painting as part of urban beautification.
Local officials and representatives who attended the launch included AP Malls Finance Corporation Director Dasari Anjaneyulu; co‑option members S.M.R. Pedababu and Jala Sumathi; Corporation Commissioner A. Bhanupratap; Eluru urban tahsildar Gayatri Devi; DCC SC/ST Monitoring Committee director Doddigari Subha Malik; and cluster and division in‑charges. Community leaders and division presidents also participated.
MLA Badeti Chanti urged citizens not to litter public spaces or vacant plots, stressing that cleanliness is key to public health and to realizing the shared goal of a beautiful Eluru.
