పొగాకు రైతులకు ఊరట కల్పించే నిర్ణయంగా బ్యారెల్కు రూ.50 వేల చొప్పున మూడేళ్లపాటు వడ్డీలేని రుణం అందించేందుకు పొగాకు బోర్డు అంగీకరించినట్లు ఏలూరు ఎంపీ పుట్టా మహేష్కుమార్ తెలిపారు. పార్లమెంట్ వర్షాకాల సమావేశాల సందర్భంగా ఢిల్లీలో ఉన్న ఆయన గురువారం పొగాకు బోర్డు సమావేశానికి వర్చువల్గా హాజరై రైతుల సమస్యలను ప్రస్తావించారు.
అంతర్జాతీయ పరిణామాలు, అనుమతికి మించి సాగు విస్తీర్ణం పెరగడం, లో గ్రేడ్ పొగాకుకు కొనుగోలుదారులు ముందుకు రాకపోవడం వల్ల ధరలు తగ్గాయని పేర్కొన్నారు. రైతులకు గిట్టుబాటు ధర కల్పించేందుకు రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం, కేంద్రంతో కలిసి కృషి చేస్తున్నామని చెప్పారు. గత రెండేళ్లలో కేజీకి గరిష్టంగా రూ.470 వరకు ధర వచ్చేలా చర్యలు తీసుకున్నామని, ఈ ఏడాది కనీసం రూ.300కు పైగా ధర వచ్చేలా అన్ని ప్రయత్నాలు కొనసాగిస్తున్నామని ఎంపీ వెల్లడించారు.
Interest-Free Loan for Tobacco Farmers, Says Eluru MP
Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar said the coalition government is committed to supporting tobacco farmers and announced that the Tobacco Board has agreed to provide an interest-free loan of ₹50,000 per barrel with a three-year repayment window for farmers producing low-grade tobacco.
Addressing a Tobacco Board meeting virtually from New Delhi, the MP said declining global prices and weak demand for low-grade tobacco had affected farmers.
