రెండేళ్లుగా ఖాళీగా ఉన్న పోస్టు భర్తీపై హర్షం
ప్రజలకు అందుబాటులో ఉండేలా కార్యాలయం ఏర్పాటు చేయాలి

ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ లోకాయుక్తగా హైకోర్టు విశ్రాంత న్యాయమూర్తి జస్టిస్ తల్లాప్రగడ మల్లికార్జునరావును చంద్రబాబునాయుడు అధ్యక్షతన గల కమిటీ ఎంపిక చేసిన నేపథ్యంలో, రెండేళ్లుగా ఖాళీగా ఉన్న లోకాయుక్త పదవిని భర్తీ చేయడంపై యు.ఎఫ్.ఆర్.టి.ఐ. కార్యకర్తలు హర్షం వ్యక్తం చేశారు. జంపాన శ్రీనివాసగౌడ్, బేతపూడి జోగేశ్వరరావు, బి. దుర్గాప్రసాద్, ఎం. సాంబశివరావు, గుంజ హేమలత, బొల్లా శివపార్వతి ఈ మేరకు ప్రకటన విడుదల చేశారు.
ఉమ్మడి ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్లో అప్పటి ముఖ్యమంత్రి నందమూరి తారక రామారావు 1983లో లోకాయుక్త చట్టాన్ని తీసుకురాగా, అదే ఏడాది నవంబర్ 1 నుంచి చట్టం అమల్లోకి వచ్చింది. రాష్ట్ర విభజన అనంతరం లోకాయుక్తగా పనిచేసిన వ్యక్తి పదవీకాలం ముగిసిన తర్వాత 2024 సెప్టెంబర్ 19 నుంచి పోస్టు ఖాళీగా ఉందని వారు తెలిపారు.
లోకాయుక్త కార్యాలయాన్ని కర్నూలులో ఏర్పాటు చేయడం వల్ల సరైన బస్సు, రైలు సౌకర్యాలు లేక ఫిర్యాదుదారులు ఇబ్బందులు పడుతున్నారని పేర్కొన్నారు. ప్రజలకు సులభంగా అందుబాటులో ఉండే విధంగా లోకాయుక్త కార్యాలయాన్ని నిర్వహించాలని వారు కోరారు.
Lokayukta Appointment Welcomed; Call for Accessible Office in Amaravati
The appointment of the Andhra Pradesh Lokayukta, filling a post that had remained vacant for nearly two years, has been welcomed by activists of the United Forum for Right to Information (UFRTI).
UFRTI activists, including Jampana Srinivasa Goud, Bethapudi Jogeswara Rao, B. Durgaprasad, M. Sambasiva Rao, Gunja Hemalatha and Bolla Sivaparvathi, issued a statement welcoming the selection of a retired High Court judge as the Lokayukta.
They said the Lokayukta institution played a crucial role in strengthening accountability and addressing complaints of corruption and maladministration. They recalled that the Lokayukta Act was introduced in undivided Andhra Pradesh in 1983 during the tenure of then Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao and came into force on November 1 of the same year.
Following the bifurcation of the State, the Lokayukta post fell vacant after the completion of the tenure of the incumbent, and had remained unfilled since September 19, 2024, the activists said.
The activists, however, urged the State government to ensure that the Lokayukta office was easily accessible to the public. They pointed out that locating the office in Kurnool posed difficulties for complainants from several parts of the State due to inadequate bus and rail connectivity.
They appealed to the government to establish and operate the Lokayukta office at a location with better public transport connectivity, so that ordinary citizens could approach the institution without facing undue hardship.
The activists said that filling the long-pending vacancy was a welcome step and expressed hope that the Lokayukta institution would function effectively in safeguarding public interest and ensuring greater transparency and accountability in administration.
