ఏలూరు జిల్లా మహిళా అభివృద్ధి మరియు శిశు సంక్షేమ శాఖ ఆధ్వర్యంలో.. జిల్లా బాలల సంరక్షణ యూనిట్ (DCPU)చైల్డ్ హెల్ప్ లైన్–1098 ద్వారా ఈ రోజు ఏలూరు పట్టణంలో బాలల తో భిక్షాటన చేసే వారిని గుర్తించటానికి ప్రత్యేక డ్రైవ్ నిర్వహించారు.
ఈ డ్రైవ్ లో నలుగురు పిల్లలతో భిక్షాటన చేస్తూ ఉన్న ఒక తల్లిని మరియు తన బిడ్డతో భిక్షాటన చేయిస్తున్న మరొక మహిళను గుర్తించారు. జిల్లా బాలల సంరక్షణ అధికారి డా. సి. హెచ్. సూర్య చక్రవేణి ఆధ్వర్యంలో సదరు మహిళలకు కౌన్సిలింగ్ నిర్వహించి వివరాలు తెలుసుకుని, చదువు విలువ తెలియజేసి వారి పేర్లు నమోదయి ఉన్న బడులకు పంపించమని.. వచ్చే విద్యా సంవత్సరంలో హాస్టల్ లో జాయిన్ చేయటానికి చర్యలు తీసుకోవాలని సిబ్బందికి తెలియజేసి ప్రతిదినం పర్యవేక్షిస్తామని చెప్పి పిల్లలను తల్లికి అప్పగించారు.
మరొక మహిళ విషయంలో సంబంధిత ప్రాంతంలోని అంగన్వాడీ టీచర్ మరియు గ్రామ సచివాలయం మహిళా సంరక్షణ కార్యదర్శికి కుటుంబ పరిస్థితిని నిరంతరం పర్యవేక్షించాలని సూచించారు. అంతవరకూ సదరు మహిళను, బాబును హోమ్ లో పెట్టడం జరిగింది.

బాలలతో భిక్షాటన చేయించడం చట్టరీత్యా నేరమని పేర్కొన్నారు. ప్రజలు ఎవరైనా బాలలు భిక్షాటన చేస్తూ కనిపిస్తే వారికి నగదు ఇవ్వకుండా, వెంటనే ఉచిత సేవ అయిన చైల్డ్ హెల్ప్ లైన్–1098 లేదా పోలీస్ హెల్ప్ లైన్–112 కు సమాచారం ఇవ్వాలని కోరారు. భిక్షాటన నుండి రక్షించబడిన బాలలకు DCPU ద్వారా కౌన్సిలింగ్ నిర్వహించి, వారిని తిరిగి అంగన్వాడీ కేంద్రాలు మరియు పాఠశాలల్లో చేర్పించే చర్యలు తీసుకుంటున్నామని తెలిపారు.
బాలల విద్య మరియు సంరక్షణ విషయాల్లో విద్యాశాఖ, అంగన్వాడీ సిబ్బంది, గ్రామ సచివాలయం మహిళా సంరక్షణ కార్యదర్శులు సమన్వయంతో నిరంతర పర్యవేక్షణ కొనసాగిస్తున్నారని తెలిపారు. అలాగే బాలల భిక్షాటన నివారణపై ప్రజల్లో అవగాహన పెంపొందించేందుకు కరపత్రాలు, పోస్టర్లు మరియు మైక్ ప్రకటనల ద్వారా ప్రచార కార్యక్రమాలు నిర్వహిస్తున్నామని వెల్లడించారు.
“బాలలు బడిలో ఉండాలి – రోడ్లపై కాదు” అనే లక్ష్యంతో ఏలూరు జిల్లాను బాలల భిక్షాటన రహిత జిల్లాగా తీర్చిదిద్దేందుకు కట్టుదిట్టమైన చర్యలు కొనసాగిస్తామని తెలిపారు.

In a proactive move under the Women Development and Child Welfare Department, Eluru District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and Child Helpline–1098 conducted a special drive in Eluru town today to identify individuals forcing children into begging.
During the operation, teams spotted one mother begging with four children and another woman with her child. Under Dr. C.H. Surya Chakraveni’s guidance, counselling sessions were held, emphasizing education’s value. The children were enrolled in their respective schools, with instructions to join hostels next academic year. Daily monitoring was assured before handing them back to the mother.
For the second case, the local Anganwadi teacher and Village Secretariat Women Protection Secretary were directed to continuously monitor the family; meanwhile, the woman and infant were placed in a home.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Chakraveni declared begging with children a punishable offence. She urged the public not to give cash but report to Child Helpline–1098 or Police Helpline–112. DCPU provides counselling and reintegrates rescued children into Anganwadis and schools. Awareness drives via pamphlets, posters, and announcements are ongoing, alongside coordination with education staff and secretariats.
