రెండు గ్రామాల రైతుల మధ్య సాగునీటి కోసం ఏర్పడిన వివాదం ఏకంగా ఒకరిపై మరొకరు కేసులు పెట్టుకోవడంతో వివాదం ముదిరింది. ఆలమూరు మండలం పినపళ్ల, కపిలేశ్వరపురం మండలం వెదురుమూడి గ్రామాల రైతుల మధ్య సాగునీటి కోసం రెండు నెలలుగా సాగుతున్న వివాదం పరిష్కారానికి చింతలూరు సాగునీటి సంఘం అధ్యక్షుడు గారపాటి శ్రీనివాసరావు అధ్వర్యంలో రైతులను ఒప్పించి వివాదం పరిష్కారానికి జరుగుతున్న కృషిలో భాగoగా శనివారం ఇరుగ్రామాల రైతుల సమక్షంలో కాలువపై కొలతలు జరిపారు. చొప్పెల్ల లాకుల వద్ద నుంచి వెదురుమూడి వరకు ఉన్న కాలువపై పినపళ్ల వద్ద బ్రిటీష్ కాలంలో డ్యామ్ నిర్మించారు.
పినపళ్ల గ్రామానికి చెందిన భూములు ఎత్తుగా ఉండటంతో డ్యామ్ ను నిర్మించి సాగునీరు సక్రమంగా వెళ్లేలా అప్పట్లో ఏర్పాటు చేశారు. ఇటీవల డ్యామ్ శిథిలావస్థకు చేరడంతో రాతితో నిర్మించిన ఈ డ్యామ్ రాళ్లు లేచిపోవడంతో వాటిని తొలగించి పినపళ్ల రైతులు ఇటీవల కొత్తగా ఎత్తు పెంచారు. ఎత్తు పెంచడం వల్ల దిగువన ఉన్న వెదురుమూడి, అంగర ఆయకట్టు భూములకు సాగునీరు వెళ్లడం కష్టమవుతుందని దిగువ ప్రాంత రైతులు అభ్యంతరం వ్యక్తం చేశారు.
ఎత్తు తగ్గిస్తామని పినపళ్ల గ్రామానికి చెందిన సాగునీటి సంఘం ఉపాధ్యక్షుడు జంగం రామా రావు వారికి హామీ ఇవ్వడంతో వివాదం సద్దు మణిగింది. ఇచ్చిన హామీ మేరకు ఎత్తు తగ్గించకపోవడంతో దిగువ ప్రాంత రైతులు వచ్చిన డ్యామ్ ఎత్తును తగ్గించే విధంగా వేసిన కాంక్రీట్ తొలగించారు. దీంతో ఇరు గ్రామాల రైతుల మధ్య వివాదం ఏర్పడి ఒకరినొకరు కేసులు పెట్టుకున్నారు.
నీటి సంఘం అధ్యక్షుడు గారపాటి అధ్వర్యoలో పరిష్కారానికి కృషి :
ఇరు గ్రామాల రైతుల మధ్య ఏర్పడిన వివాదం పరిష్కారానికి చింతలూరు సాగునీటి సంఘం అధ్యక్షుడు గారపాటి శ్రీనివాసరావు అధ్వర్యంలో శనివారం చర్యలు జరిగాయి. గతoలో ఉన్న విధంగా డ్యామ్ ఉండేలా భూముల ఎత్తు ఆధారంగా కొలతలు వేసేలా ఒప్పందం చేశారు. ఇరిగేషన్ ఆలమూరు ఏఈ కృష్ణ త్రిమూర్తులు అధ్వర్యంలో పలువురు సిబ్బంది కొలతలు వేసే పనిలో నిమగ్నమ య్యారు. ఆ మేరకు డ్యామ్ ఎత్తు చేస్తారని గారపాటి శ్రీనివాసరావు తెలిపారు.
In Konaseema district’s Alamuru mandal, a long-standing irrigation water dispute between farmers of two villages, Pinapalla and Vedurumuudi, escalated into legal battles as one party filed cases against the other.
The conflict stems from a British-era dam constructed on the canal running from Choppella Locks to Vedurumuudi, designed to regulate water flow for Pinapalla’s elevated farmlands. Recently, the dam fell into disrepair, with stones loosening. Pinapalla farmers raised the dam’s height to restore irrigation flow, which angered downstream farmers in Vedurumuudi and nearby Angara ayakattu lands, who claimed the increased dam height disrupted their water supply.
Despite assurances from Jangam Rama Rao, Vice President of Pinapalla’s irrigation society, to reduce the dam height, the promised action was not taken. This prompted downstream farmers to remove parts of the newly raised concrete structure, further inflaming tensions and resulting in cross-complaints and lawsuits.
Efforts to resolve the dispute were led on Saturday by Garapati Srinivas Rao, President of Chintaluru Irrigation Society. Under his supervision and with Alamuru AE Krishnamurthy Trimurthulu and staff conducting precise measurements, both villages agreed to restore the dam to its original British-era specifications based on agreed land elevations.
Garapati Srinivas Rao confirmed that the dam height would be adjusted accordingly to ensure fair water distribution, aiming to end the dispute and restore harmony among the farmers.
