In the wake of the Meteorological Department’s warnings that there is a possibility of heavy rains for the next three days due to the influence of a low pressure – a depression, Eluru Member of Parliament Putta Mahesh Kumar advised the authorities and the public to be alert.
In the wake of the heavy rains, Eluru MP Putta Mahesh Kumar spoke to District Collector Vetri Selvi on the phone from Delhi in the wake of the Meteorological Department’s warnings about the impact of pressure on Eluru district as well. He advised the officials to make arrangements to evacuate people from low-lying areas to safer places and to keep abreast of sudden flood flows from ravines and bends and inform the downstream areas.
MP Putta Mahesh asked that embankments be strengthened in places where there is a risk of landslides at canal, drains areas, and that officials from the Revenue, Police, Electricity, Disaster Management, Agriculture and Water Resources departments should work in coordination. At the same time, MP Putta Mahesh Kumar asked the Medical and Health Department officials to take appropriate measures to prevent the spread of fever and infectious diseases due to the rains.
