పోలీసులు ఆగస్టు 13న తెల్లవారుజామున 2.30 గంటలకు పట్టణంలో డ్రంక్ అండ్ డ్రైవ్ తనిఖీలు నిర్వహించారు. ఈ సందర్భంగా మారుతీనగర్కు చెందిన అగ్గాల సాయికుమార్ (33)ను 239/100 ఎంఎల్ మద్యం మోతాదుతో వాహనం నడుపుతుండగా అదుపులోకి తీసుకుని కేసు నమోదు చేశారు.
శుక్రవారం కోర్టులో హాజరుపరచగా.. న్యాయమూర్తి రావూరి మురళీకృష్ణ 8 రోజుల జైలు శిక్ష విధించారు. మద్యం సేవించి వాహనాలు నడిపితే కఠిన చర్యలు తప్పవని పోలీసులు హెచ్చరించారు.
Drunk Driving Offender Sentenced to Eight Days in Jail in Eluru
A court in Eluru has sentenced a man to eight days of simple imprisonment for driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, in a case booked by the Eluru One Town Police.
Acting on the directions of Eluru DSP D. Shravan Kumar, the Eluru One Town Police conducted drunk-driving checks in the city at around 2.30 am on August 13. During the checks, police intercepted Aggala Sai Kumar, 33, a resident of Marutinagar, who was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police said the breath analyser test recorded 239/100 ml of alcohol, following which Sai Kumar was taken into custody and a case was registered against him.
The accused was produced before the Eluru SJSCM Court on Friday. Presiding judge Ravuri Muralikrishna sentenced him to eight days of simple imprisonment.
Eluru One Town Inspector Koppisetti Ramakrishna said strict action would be taken against motorists who drive after consuming alcohol. He urged motorists to refrain from drunk driving, warning that such violations could endanger not only their own lives but also those of other road users.
The drunk-driving enforcement drive was carried out by the One Town police personnel under the supervision of Inspector Ramakrishna.
