పోలీసు అధికారులు, ప్రభుత్వ అధికారుల పేరుతో ఫోన్ చేసి OTP, బ్యాంకు వివరాలు, డబ్బులు అడిగితే స్పందించవద్దని సూచించారు. సైబర్ మోసానికి గురైతే వెంటనే 1930కు సమాచారం అందించాలని, అత్యవసర పరిస్థితుల్లో 112కు ఫోన్ చేయాలని తెలిపారు.
మొబైల్ ఫోన్ పోయినప్పుడు CEIR ద్వారా బ్లాక్ చేయించుకోవచ్చని, CCTV, 360° కెమెరాల సహాయంతో నేరాల నియంత్రణకు చర్యలు తీసుకుంటున్నట్లు వివరించారు.
యువత గంజాయి, మత్తు పదార్థాలు, అక్రమ సారా వంటి వాటికి దూరంగా ఉండాలని సూచించారు. కార్యక్రమంలో గ్రామ మహిళలు, ప్రజలు పెద్ద సంఖ్యలో పాల్గొన్నారు.
Police sensitise women on cyber fraud, new criminal laws in Polavaram
Police conducted an awareness programme at Paidipaka village in Polavaram mandal on Tuesday, focusing on women’s safety, prevention of cybercrime and the provisions of the new criminal laws.
The programme was organised on the directions of Eluru district Superintendent of Police K. Pratap Shiv Kishore and under the guidance of Polavaram Deputy Superintendent of Police K. Jayakrishna. Polavaram Circle Inspector B. Krishnakumar supervised the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Sub-Inspector P. Apparao cautioned residents against falling prey to cyber fraudsters impersonating police personnel, government officials and other authorities.
He advised people not to disclose One-Time Passwords (OTPs), bank account details, passwords or other financial information over phone calls. “No genuine government or police official will ask citizens to share confidential banking credentials or OTPs over a phone call,” he said.
The SI urged victims of cyber fraud to immediately contact the national cybercrime helpline 1930 to facilitate prompt action and possible recovery of the defrauded amount. In case of an emergency or threat to personal safety, citizens were advised to contact 112.
He also explained that lost or stolen mobile phones could be blocked and traced through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) system. Police were taking steps to strengthen crime prevention and surveillance through CCTV and 360-degree cameras, he added.
The police also sensitised the youth about the harmful consequences of ganja, narcotic substances and illicit liquor, and urged them to stay away from substance abuse and unlawful activities.
A large number of women and local residents attended the awareness programme. Police officials urged the public to remain vigilant, promptly report suspicious activities and make use of emergency services whenever required.
