🔴 Eluru District : Unguturu Mandal : THE DESK NEWS :
In a key initiative to tackle wastewater issues in rural areas, Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO) G.R. Manoj on Tuesday evening inspected the ongoing “Magic Drain” pilot project works at Kamsali Kunta village.
Speaking on the occasion, MPDO Manoj explained that the Magic Drain system is a low-cost, eco-friendly method designed to filter wastewater and allow it to percolate into the soil, thereby helping recharge groundwater levels. He added that the system also helps control mosquito breeding and improves overall sanitation.Highlighting the cost advantage, Manoj said that while constructing a 100-meter concrete (CC) drain typically costs around ₹5 lakh, the same length of Magic Drain can be developed for approximately ₹1 lakh to ₹1.4 lakh. He noted that the project offers a sustainable and affordable solution for rural wastewater management.
The MPDO further stated that once the pilot project is completed, construction of additional Magic Drains will be taken up across Unguturu Mandal as per the directions of local MLA Patsamatla Dharma Raju. Employment guarantee staff, the panchayat secretary, and Kamsali Kunta sarpanch were present during the inspection.
